To get into the plot. Eventually it became an interesting tale that held my attention.
A Great Piece of Historic Fiction and Intrigue

If you liked Dan Brown you will love Steve Berry. Like Brown Berry interweaves historic fact and fiction into a story filled with murder, suspense, mystery and intrigue. Fast moving storylines blend with solid character development and historic legends to create a spellbinding story involving gold mines, lost treasures of the Jewish Temple, and intrigue surrounding the mysterious life of Christopher Columbus.
Terrific!

history plus story properly intertwined, without long winding historical speeches, all quite well cooked together to entertain, enlighten, enliven, want to read more of Berry. Stay with it.
Quick read although it can get bogged down in the details

I finished this in 4 nights. It reads quickly and does a great job adding bits and pieces to Columbus's legacy. There are a few instances when the details slow the pace but overall, the descriptions of locales and history are well done.
The biggest drawback I have with this novel is Alle Beckett. Yes, it was the author's intention to portray her as naive and refusing to forgive her father, but her actions are too calculating and cold (not to mention frustrating) to make her remotely likable. The resolution feels rushed and, sadly, ends the book with the feeling of, "that's it?"
The author's notes were a bonus.

I read this book in three nights! Masterfully written, researched and presented this book made me keep turning the pages long after my bedtime! My only complaint for the book is that it made me sleepy at work for three days running. If you are a lover of the historical novel as I am, Bon appetit!
Steve Berry hits a home run again!

Very entertaining. Mr. Berry never disappoints me. This book is another great proof of that. The way he mixes fact and fiction is great. Much better than Dan Brown. When are we going to see Cotton Malone in the big screen?
Couldn't finish

Rarely do I not complete a book once I've started reading. Quit this one after 100 pages -- slow moving, vague plot.
Another page turner....

If you are a die hard Steve Berry fan you will not be disappointed! Although, I kept hoping Cotton Malone might show up! Because there is so little known about Columbus, it allows you to really use and stretch your imagination. Highly recommend!
