Description

One voice can save a life; one heart can bring you home…

Ross Dyer is ready to give up on love. The sleepy-eyed cowboy has always danced to the tune of a different drummer, but after being dumped by his latest girlfriend, he’s beginning to think he’ll spend his life dancing—and sleeping—alone. Add in the impending failure of his restaurant, thanks to a smear campaign waged by his childhood nemesis, and Ross doesn’t have much reason to care if the armadillo sees his shadow.

And then she comes home…

Fourteen years ago, Elodie Prince was a scared little girl. In her world, the only light was a sweet boy everyone called Ugly Ross, who to her was always beautiful. When she returns to Lonesome Point to find her childhood friend has grown into a man as handsome as he is kind, she can’t help falling in love.

Elodie and Ross dive head first into Happily Ever After, but soon find their future is threatened by a vicious blast from the past. Because some bullies never grow up, they only grow more determined to snuff out the lights of the things that shine.

Jessie Evans is such a great writer and her Lonesome Cowboys are the best. Never thought I wanted to read about Cowboys but now I cannot get enough of those hunks! Ugly Ross is no longer the ugly duckling nor is Elodie. They have grown up and overcome so many cruel things said and done to them. When Ross and Elodie finally find each other again they pick up right where they left off. It's such a great novella packed full of love, romance and second chances! I'm hoping we will see more of these two in future books.....please! I loved the book and Jessie's fabulous writing! Don't miss out!

Jesse Evans tells the story of Ugly Ross like no other. Thank you for such a wonderful story. Although Ugly Ross is not the strongest kid or man when grown up..... he is the strongest intellectually and ends up winning the fight while only using his brains. The story moves you through Ugly Ross' life as a boy to manhood and takes you on a very thrilling ride through it all. There will be lots of smiles and lots of tears but all the while it will be worth the read. This is a must read by Jesse Evans!!!

This is a great novella to add to the Lonesome Point series. Ross and Elodie are so sweet, yet so strong. This story is filled with friendship, emotion, spirit and love…a lot to pack into a novella, but done splendidly. It is wonderful to see how these characters find strength in each other to stand up for themselves!
  • Awesome addition to the series!

Jessie Evans is the Queen of novella's. The. Queen. No one can tell a full length novel packed with emotion, lust, humor, love and sadness into a pint sized book like she can! I have liked Ugly Ross since Leather and Lace. He's sweet and fun and not at all ugly. He fell in love when he was twelve and he never forgot the most interesting girl he'd ever known, Elodie. He has so many memories of that little girl, some good and some bad. Bullies never seemed to leave either one of them alone, giving them their horrible nick names. One day Elodie just rides back into town on her Vespa with the same braids and heart stopping smile. They instantly recognize each other and that same spark and feeling from when they were kids is still there. They skip the pleasantries and go right to spending the day together. And then the next and the next. They don't feel the need to take their time because they have loved each other since they were twelve. But, just when they think they have it all the bullies from their past sneak up on them and try to cause trouble. Can Ross and Elodie fight back against the bully this time? Will they make it out the other side together? Not only is this a wonderful love story about being who you are, but it's a gripping lesson about not letting bullies get their way. If you do, they will just keep coming back. You have to stand up for yourself and believe in yourself, your friends and your family. At the end of the day, that's what makes us all who we are. "I don't care." She lifted one slim shoulder and let it fall. "Whatever it is, the answer s yes. Ride on my scooter, yes. Kidney, yes. Special place in my heart…always." She tasted like a recipe revelation in human form, the perfect, intoxicating combination of flavors designed to drive a man out of his mine with wanting her. "Sorry. I was sleep sexing. It's like sleepwalking, but with more sex in it." "What's that word?" Ross asked softly. "What word?" "The one that means magical, but it starts with a vowel. I think it starts with an E." "Enchanting." She grinned at him. "That's it," Ross said, kissing her forehead. "You're enchanting."
  • This is such a sweet love affair

Wow… take two kids, both bullied in sixth grade that are torn apart by unfortunate circumstances. “Stinky” Elodie and “Ugly” Ross are torn apart when she is taken from her home in Lonesome Point to go live with her Grandma in Houston. These two were secretly crushing each other at 12 years of age before she disappeared from his life and the chance of a first kiss. Fast forward 14 years to Lonesome Point’s version of Groundhog Day. Soon he sees a girl he recognizes as his little friend who is all grown up. These two both still hold each other dear and their love is quick, but unfortunately bullies never change. Just as mean as when they were kids, will these now adults ruin what is meant to be for this couple? This is such a sweet love affair. I love Ross and Elodie! Another amazing story for this Lonesome Point, Texas series by Jessie Evans!
