Description

Hailed by Jennifer Probst as a “sexy, heartfelt story,” this sweet military romance reunites a headstrong dancer and a rugged army soldier after one steamy encounter tears them apart.

As a dancer who creates mesmerizing visions onstage, Neve James is looking for the same kind of stability in her love life. Her pen pal, Rory McRoy, is on leave from deployment in Afghanistan, so she heads to Boston to surprise him. After corresponding for months as part of a “Support Our Troops” initiative—and exchanging dozens of “Read When You’re Alone” letters—Neve knows what Rory likes, and she intends to fulfill his every fantasy. But all they get are a few blissful moments together before they’re interrupted by a woman claiming to be Rory’s fiancée.

Rory has fallen hard for Neve’s letters. When he finally meets her in person, he has to have her, right then and there—until Neve takes off in a fit of anger. Forced to return to Afghanistan before he can fix things between them, Rory waits four agonizing months to prove that he’s not the man Neve thinks he is. But by the time he arrives in New York, she’s already made up her mind. Luckily, Rory never backs down from a challenge, and he’s prepared to put everything on the line for love.

“All I need is you. You make me happy.” “I’m more apt to make you miserable than happy.” “Miserably happy.” Neve James was looking forward to change her life. She wanted to be a better person, do a 180o in her life. And because of one person: Rory McRoy, soldier (yeah, I don’t remember his ranking or whatever the name is) – and a strong one. They met each other as pen pals. “Support our troops” initiative was a great excuse to start being a better person (or so she thought). But sending hot Hot HOT letters as a support was kind of weird, but, hey, whatever works for them. It was all sent to the ground when some stranger claimed to be his fiancé. My thoughts about the book: I liked it more than Loving You Is Easy, but it still has room for improvement. The story is a bit dragged down and, sometimes, I was a bit bored with the whole “don’t want you around, but I still want you”. I am, however, waiting for Nate’s story. It sounds like it’s going to be goooooood
  • Smart, fun, Sexy. Thoroughly enjoyable.

** Provided by Netgalley in Exchange for an Honest Review ** Judging a Book by it's Cover: Naked, gleaming torso with bulging muscles that would rival the best crafted balloon animal. Dangerously low-slung pants. The cover is not so much what drew me in, although I'd be lying if I said it wasn't what initially caught me eye. No, it was the synopsis. I enjoy a good military romance and this one seemed to fit the bill. Looking Deeper: Third person POV. I loved the unique opening, wished there were more of that throughout the book. Our hero in ALL I NEED IS YOU is refreshingly unique in that he's not the typical "over six feet" towering Adonis. In fact, I can honestly say that this is the first time I've read a hero with his description and am thoroughly pleased with how well Rory and Neve fit as a couple. The characters and their chemistry are excellent. Love isn't perfect, and more often than not, it's not instantaneous. Ms. Marcus captures the essence of the imperfect human finding their way to being one half of a whole in such a realistic way. There are several secondary characters that help to add depth and dynamics to the plot. The overall story is very well written and thoroughly enjoyable to read. There were several conflicts that were not at all resolved in perfect manners, but were managed in very real ways instead. Predictability was minimal and no big surprises. The conclusion wraps up in a wonderful epilogue with just the slightest hint as to who may get a book next. I, for one, *will* be backtracking to read Brooke and Shane's book, LOVING YOU IS EASY, and will definitely keep my eyes open for the next book in this series. It's easy to love this series and I am - without a doubt - a new fan of Ms. Marcus. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heat Level: 4 [R] ~ Score: 4.3 ~ Stars: 4 -------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • An unusual hero

    By ButtonsMom2003
This was my first book by Wendy S. Marcus and I enjoyed reading it a lot. This book was a bit different than others I’ve read. The hero is only 5’4” tall; a bit unusual for a romance novel where most heroes seem to be tall and dashing. Rory’s size doesn’t in any way diminish his hero-worthiness. Neve (pronounced Neeve), the heroine, is also diminutive so they fit well together. Rory and Neve begin their relationship as pen-pals; her letters help Rory endure his tour in Afghanistan. A misunderstanding tears them apart and he is determined to repair the relationship. Neve has quite a past. She was a bad girl like a lot of romance books have a bad boy. She enjoys sex and has been with a lot of guys but now she wants to change her life and start over; she’s tired of being a bad girl. Rory is no angel; he’s not really interested in having a long-term relationship with Neve but neither does he want to use her like so many of the guys before him. There are a lot of ups and downs for this couple and there were a few times I kind of wanted to slap both of them upside their heads. The two of them have a real connection but both of them fail to realize it at times. There were several interesting secondary characters in this story; in particular I’d like to read a story for her brother, Nate. He’s been her champion since they were kids. He’s only 6 months older than Neve and finding out how that is the case was an interesting part of this book. In short, I enjoyed reading this and would read more books by this author. I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

All I Need Is You by Wendy S. Marcus took me completely by surprise. Often. From the first letters written between hero Rory and heroine Neve to a hilarious scene in a school parking lot to a very serious night that brought all emotions to a head and changed the lives of the main characters. I couldn’t find much of a blurb for this book when I read it, so I didn’t really know what I was getting into, other than I knew it would be a contemporary romance and Marcus is an auto-read for me. It was an emotional journey of finding oneself independently and through the love of other people. That sounded like a women’s fiction type description, huh? Well, let me tell you this book is plenty hot and sexy and definitely is a romance. It’s just Neve’s journey was more than just about her and Rory. I enjoyed the plot of this book because it did not follow what I expect in a lot of contemporary romance books. It was a little raw at times. Neve’s background is not as light and fluffy as it appears to the outside world. I love both her strength and her vulnerability throughout the story. Rory isn’t the guy I expected to read about. He is a solider, but he isn’t the typical 6 foot plus, 250 lb hero we read about. Boy does he have a personality make to up for his physical size. Rory and Neve fit so well together, too. I just love the little twist to the typical romance couple. Marcus does a fantastic job with Neve and Rory’s romance. As I mentioned from the beginning I was surprised and was not able to predict how things would turn out. Of course I knew they would end up together, but it’s the how that kept me reading. The intimate scenes fit the two of these characters very well. Marcus writes hot scenes and they are always different depending on the story. I enjoyed the other storylines with Neve’s family. Her brother Nate was fantastic and I hope he gets a book someday. I loved Rory’s family and how they interacted with one another. I thought Marcus did a fantastic job with the ending and bringing all the plot lines together. All I Need Is You had me laughing out loud in some scenes, scared for Neve and Rory in a couple others and my heart both hurt and swelled from the love that poured out of this story. If you are looking for a page turning contemporary romance that will have your feeling many phases of emotions throughout the story, I highly recommend you give All I Need Is You a try. *I received an ARC of this story via NetGalley.*
