I had to read this book for school and it wasn’t what I thought it would be. It was very interesting but at times very slow. If you like mystery books and Jules Vern this book is for you.

One of the first SF books I read. Although it's a little bogged down by too much detail, it's still a great read, especially for it's time. There's no denying that Mr. Verne was a genius.

I heard about this book in my childhood; nevertheless, I never had chance to read it. Fortunately, I'm just done reading and I can tell you that this book is classic and it's very interesting. This book will take to completely different world.

20k Leagues is one of my favorite science fiction novels. It is a true classic and Verne a precursor to the genre.

Where is the complete translation? None I can find on iBooks seems to be the complete translation. This has 360 pages and the french version 417 pages. I wish the reviews would let me know if it is unabridged and whether or not there is a map within. Frustrating!

I sailed a literary sea of Science, Zoology, Marine Biology, History, Language, World Politcs, Science Fiction as well as Religion & Philosophy in the Jules Verne vessel, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Many times I found myself looking up vocab, types of marine life, events & iconic heroes in history as well as the detailed geographical voyage of the Nautilus and Capt. Nemo. I feel like Verne took me as a Nautilus stowaway and from this reading I too gained many valuable treasures as did the Professor. With this said, it seemed long and there were parts that Verne could have glossed over but because he wrote extensively on marine life it made me feel like he wrote a bit from an encyclopedia and not from his passioned heart & mind. These are my reasonings for a 4:5 star rating. I encourage many to read this classic to form their own opinion & to revel in the many creations of our world, done by both the hands of God and man.
