Description

A 14-year-old country girl, Polly Milton, visits her friend Fanny Shaw and her wealthy family in the city for the first time. Poor Polly is overwhelmed by the splendor and their urbanized, fashionable lifestyles, expensive clothes and other habits she has never been exposed to. Fanny's friends reject her because of her different behavior and simple clothing, and Fan herself can't help considering her unusual sometimes. However, Polly's warmth, support and kindness eventually win the hearts of all, and her old-fashioned ways teach them a lesson.

i love this book. it gave me a splendid scope to fantasise about a light academy self through polly and has been a good comfort in a somewhat anxious time. in books we love poverty, but in life we dread it. it shouldn’t be like that. little is good enough. and the way that is written and presented in this book is very fine.

Love this book! So many times where I have felt the same way, kept finding 21st century similarities. Instead of calling me old fashioned they call me weird... Any way great book👍

Again, a charming sweet story, but the people who edit, type and proofread are absolute failures at their work! Have never seen so many misplaced commas, or other grammatical errors. The number of times that contractions were split was appalling! Poor Louisa May Alcott would be offended!

I already have this book on hard copy but I loooove it!! The classics are the best. I won't spoil it for those who haven't read it, but if you like the 1800's time period, you'll love this. It really exposes both worlds. I'm about pollys age so I relate with her.

It was the best ever! The plot was great, and the ending was surprising. I would give it 100 stars if I could. Everyone should read this classic
