The story may be long for some but the world building, characters and plots are so worth it! This is the first book I have read by this author and will be reading many more. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Superb and complex

Selling us words

The story has all the elements of a good Sci-fi but the endless unnecessary details burry these elements under mountains of words and make the reading diagonal at best. I gave up halfway through chapter four, completely uninterested and unengaged feeling that the book was stuffed with words just to meet the publisher’s word quota. This was my first Hamilton book, needless to say that it will be the last…
Unbelievable

Just finished this outstanding work. I found this author by searching for authors like issac Asimov. Mr Hamilton is not Asimov he is on a plain of his own. I am invested in this story and am ready to start book 2.
This complex narrative is just outstanding. I feel my words are failing to capture my admiration. As I found myself within the last 100 pages my heart rate accelerated as the story became fast and furious.
I have begun to purchase his other works. Well done sir!
Great Sci Fi

What a great book. Massive scale that includes the whole galaxy combined with dozens of fascinating characters, a future full of technology that is both off the charts and a logical outgrowth of where we are now. And psychologically realistic effects of that technology on humans. Sci fi at its best. A real classic.

I don't think I have been drawn into a space opera as deep and intricate and imaginative as the worlds created in Pandora's Star since I was first introduced to Frank Herbert and the original Dune series.

AAA+ glad I found this author. I've read all 5 commonwealth books and I hope the story continues. Very well done Mr. Hamilton!
Half of decent space opera

A sprawling 1500 page saga of which only half is in this volume. It ends abruply, requiring the sequel. Certainly a complex and richly imagined future but very long with many marginal digressions.
