Description

The #1 New York Times bestseller, USA Today Book of the Year and now a major motion picture starring Emily Blunt.

Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple having breakfast on their deck. She's even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

And then she sees something shocking. It's only a minute until the train moves on, but it's enough. Now everything's changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel goes to the police. But is she really as unreliable as they say? Soon she is deeply entangled not only in the investigation but in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?

Just re-read The Girl on the Train again after several years, and I appreciated the authors skill even more. Her ability to hold your attention, inscribe events indelibly on your minds eye, and make you want to never put the book down is truly remarkable. I’m sorry it’s over. Sigh!
  • Just okay for me

Was an entertaining read up until the sloppy climax. I understand that she needed another twist but the climax was poorly thought out and hastily made

Good plot, took a while to pick up speed, but once it did it was hard to put it down. The extreme alcoholism however was kind of difficult to stomach, but I suppose it created a very realistic viewpoint.

Easily one of the best books I’ve ever read! Incredibly difficult to put down once it gets really going!

The only reason why I’m giving this four stars is because I briefly-although I still wasn’t sure until the end of the book-knew who was involved in the mystery. Just by the way everyone acted I knew it wasn’t that character or that character and the ending was pretty predictable by the prologue. But it still shocked me on how everyone’s lives truly were and the way peoples behaviors shifted and the clues shifted and that’s when I really couldn’t stop turning the pages. I still recommend this book.
