Close Her Eyes

I enjoyed reading this book, and like the detective Josie Quinn and her husband. She has suffered unimaginable trauma throughout her life, but keeps going anyway. It’s commendable that she puts herself at risk as a police detective, forgives people who have hurt her, tolerates and doesn’t judge them, and has good instincts (probably because of her struggles and heartache). It’s hard to believe such evil exists out there, and it’s so sad that people have such twisted and distorted perceptions! This book was full of unspeakable atrocities committed by damaged people (Dermot and Vance, Hallie) but brought to justice by Josie, who suffered trauma too but chose to get over it….not perfectly but enough to offer hope and comfort to those suffering. Disturbing acts of violence in the book were hard to read at times, and some rescues were difficult to believe. Also, heart ached for Mathias at injustices suffered at hands of evil, cruel, and/or powerful people!
