This is one of Brown’s best novels yet. The storyline and characters are well developed and authentic, not just for the period setting but representative of examples of human frailties and strengths that are timeless.
Wonderful!

I read this book 5 years ago and bawled inconsolably for 2 hours, 5 years later it still brings tears to my eyes. It’s a wonderful story, and I’m all the better for knowing it.
Sucked!

It was too sedate and safe. Nothing happened on the novel and it was so boring that I thanked God that it was short. Don't spend your money, clearly sandy wrote for herself in this one.
Great book

Sandra Brown is one of my favorite authors. I usually read her suspense novels so was very surprised to find this novel which does have a little suspense but seemed to be more about the life of a stranger and this woman. The twist and turns is very exciting. I would have to say this is the first book I've read that made me actually cry.

Such a heartwarming love story! Didn't want to take any breaks from reading.
Sandra Brown rarely disappoints, and the different twists she puts into this story was great. Her approach was somewhat subtle, yet abrupt at the same time. She holds to the historical period and paints vivid pictures in the reader's mind of survival with the different cultures and lifestyles. Loved this!
