Description

Before the movie, this is the novel that gave life to Hawkeye Pierce, Trapper John, Hot Lips Houlihan, Frank Burns, Radar O'Reilly, and the rest of the gang that made the 4077th MASH like no other place in Korea or on earth.

The doctors who worked in the Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals (MASH) during the Korean War were well trained but, like most soldiers sent to fight a war, too young for the job. In the words of the author, "a few flipped their lids, but most of them just raised hell, in a variety of ways and degrees."

For fans of the movie and the series alike, here is the original version of that perfectly corrupt football game, those martini-laced mornings and sexual escapades, and that unforgettable foray into assisted if incompleted suicide—all as funny and poignant now as they were before they became a part of America's culture and heart.

  • Good read. Spelling errors

This was the best book I’ve read in a while. It did have quite a few spelling and grammatical errors I suspect were the result of putting it into an electronic version. Aside from that it was great. I grew up watching the tv show and later the movie, which did not detract from the read at all. Would recommend.

Amazing Book, Movie, Series, and the Screen play intertwining the movie and series (Only seen and read the one, my partner on a medic truck played Trapper, I do not know of any others). I must say I love M*A*S*H, and do not know if I can ever bore of it! I must say I do love the series a bit more. However, that being said I had fallen I love with it unbeknownst to anything else, and had seen the series in its entirety at least 7-8 times at the squad base. It wasn't until Father's Day the year the entire set came out in a box set. The set was awesome box bound in olive drab, then had a book that slipped out and the inside cover was Corporal Walter "Radar" O'Reilly clip board, that was used as a prop to hide his left hands three finger deformity! In the clip bird was a book that gave major details of all 11 seasons, including the hastily filmed "Farwell, Goodbye, Amen". Then to my surprise the movie. That was then stolen from me bye a family member and sold off for well you get it, and we were giving her free room and board. Being my wife's cousin it hit us hard out Firemen's badges wee also stolen! Said. Don't get me wrong I loved the movie. However, the series just had more? Hard to explain. I had found the book prior to the movie. I saw a lot of the book in season one. I had a disconnect until I found the movie and it was then plugged together. The book is a great read easy and quick. It is hard to explain most people would say the book was much better, but I can't I love them all. I still watch the series every day. At that I have read the book multiple times, and with all three I find something new or I had forgotten. I recommend them all. One day I will replace my lost set! I also hope to come across the entire I.V. and stand vodka set (preferably unopened)! Then I would like to see the two spin offs AfterMASH, and Trapper John, M. D.! Goodnight, God bless, & Good reading! Y.I.S., Rev. Shawn M. Steinschreiber
