ARC for honest review with no compensation Love at First Light is book in the Lost Harbor, Alaska series by Jennifer Bernard and oh my each book is better than the last! Ethan James, PI comes back to Lost Harbor at the request of the police chief Maya Badger to help find SG (Spruce Grouse) missing parents. He has had lots of brushes with death and this last time it has changed him in ways he isn’t prepared for once he lands in Lost Harbor because we know, nothing is quite what it seems... Jessica Dixon, baker extraordinaire, best friend to Maya is determined to help her when she has to drop the investigation for SG’s parents. She knows nothing about investigating but extracts a commitment from Ethan to help. What happens next is...intuition, knowing the lay of the land, crystals, opposite attraction, having your back and trusting your heart will lead you to where you are supposed to be...

These characters and story grab you immediately and keeps you vested throughout their story. Ethan, the cynical private investigator from California and Jessica, the sunny disposition local baker could not be more opposite but, the sparks and interest are definitely there to create an entertaining dynamic. Ethan and Jessica’s first meeting is the absolute best scene to start off their relationship. Their banter sets the stage for a wild ride full of heat, mystery and awareness neither of them expects. Their story is beautiful, sweet and I absolutely love it!

Who needs sleep when you need to finish this book instead? I LOVED this story! Been waiting for Ethan to get his HEA! Jessica is such a good match for him, a opposites attract sort of thing. Yay! on SG’s part. What is happening in Lost Souls!?! Bring on Maya’s story ASAP!!

I adored Jessica and Ethan! Total opposites in every way, these two were made to be just friends. Stepping outside her comfort zone, Jessica discovers so much about herself and where her strength comes from, even though she doesnt think she has much strength. Some ill plaved words jar her to the core and she has some hard desicions to make about her life. Ethan is not only a distraction but a challenge to her way of thinking. Ethan is backed into a corner in the beginning of this book but its one of his own making. His life is at a crossroad and he thinks he knows which path to take. Something he has no belief in, fate, will throw him on a new adventure. The mystery surrounding a young girl propels them into a wilderness known for strange happenings and it does not disappoint. I love the way Jennifer Bernard pulls me into her world and the people of it. Her characters are people i would want to live next door to and be friends with. Ethan and Jessica are two such people.

I’ve read each and every book in the Lost Harbor, Alaska series and loved each one. Each can be read as a stand-alone, but why would you want to? Each book is centered around a different couple, but you get to know the other Lost Harbor residents as you’re reading. Love at First Light is centered around P.I. Ethan James and Sweet Harbor Bakery and B&B owner, Jessica Dixon. Jessica first meets Ethan whil he’s in a jail cell. When they team up to investigate S.G.’s case, to help out Maya, the Police Chief, they spend a lot of time together. I won’t leave any spoilers, but if you love a side of suspense with your steamy romance, then you definitely want to read this amazing story. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

The latest installment to the Lost River series started out a bit slow for me, but my interest was kicked into high gear once sweet baker Jessica and slightly cynical P.I Ethan started working together. While chief of police Maya is busy with a personal issue, Jessica decides she needs to be Ethan’s investigative partner while he looks into SG’s family background. Jessica and Ethan are total opposites but they really clicked while out in Lost Souls Wilderness. While I’m not going to spoil any of the plot, let’s just say while some mysteries maybe be solved, other pop up in their place. I guess we’ll need to wait for Maya’s story to get more answers! This was a very fun story. Not a lot of relationship drama, which is such a nice change of pace, some very hot scenes between our leads and great banter. Another great read by a Jennifer Bernard
