I wept like a small child upon hearing the news of her passing. I’m glad I was able to get a closer look into her life. She’s truly a gem.

This book is filled with so many life lessons and experiences we can learn from. I paid for the digital book, but I am also planning to by the physical copy. It’s a must add to one’s book collection. I enjoy reading autobiographical novels and reading her story and understanding what she went through as a person was just over all inspirational. I am so glad I read this book!

Outstanding person, Soror, actress, costume designer, herbalist, hair culture trendsetter, fashionista, historian, model, civil rights activist in her own right, wife, mother, daughter, sister, godmother, friend, teacher, inspirational, truthful and I can go on. I laughed. I cried. My soul hurt. My soul was uplifted. I shouted. I praised our Heavenly Father. I was humbled. To live in the same years of this unique individual, I am truly in awe. This should be a must read for every person.

This is a great book. A life’s story of love, pain, resilience, success and service by Cicely Tyson. She lifted herself and many others. This is a must read!

One of the best stories I have been blessed to read. God allowed Ms. Tyson enough time to finish her story and to pass her legacy on to me and others in her own words. A true blessing!!
