Lackluster

Meh. This book was a bit all over the place and not memorable. The characters were so erratic and seemed quite immature. The story itself never really made sense and contained a lot fluff. Girl likes fashion, boy thinks she’s silly. Back and forth banter. Then there both suddenly in love, no understanding why. Very contrived plot. Boring, drawn out, fluff piece. Very disappointed.
Delightful

Wonderful! I could not put it down. Eloise James is an incredible author who writes so well that the reader feels transported to the very pages. Thank you this series and family.
Better and better

The first book in this series was not my favorite Eloisa James book. While I enjoyed it a great deal, it felt a little rushed and not as “smooth” as her other works. The second book was much better. It was much easier to relate to the characters and the story was naturally engaging.
“Born to be Wilde” is yet another step up the ladder. The growth of the characters, the issues with which they were compelled to deal, and the love and strength that allowed them to do so were all expertly portrayed. Ms. James creates characters we would be honored to know and plots that are engaging and completely satisfying in their resolution. This book is a shining example of that skill.
This book gave me butterflies!

I feel like the Wildes and I have been friends forever, and I do enjoy every chance I get to catch up with them. This series is a special one, full of special characters and their special relationships. The romance is fantastic. This book actually gave me butterflies, and I don't think a book has ever done that to me before. It very easily could have been the type of book where the heroine's life is in shambles, and the hero comes along and fixes everything for her, but it wasn't. Eloisa James took Lavinia and brought out her fierceness and courage even when her heart was breaking. And I adored how Lavinia used her strengths to build herself up, especially since her strengths are what made her seem so shallow to some people. Loved it! I always look forward to seeing the family dynamic in this series too. The Wildes are a very close-knit family, and James does a great job with their interactions, and their development. They really are growing up before our eyes, which makes everyone seem even more realistic. It would be awesome if everyone could have a Lady Knowe in their family. If you get a chance to check out this series, do it. They are stand alone books, but please do yourself a favor and read them all. You will be doing yourself a great disservice if you don't.
A lush historical romance with a foundation in family ties.

Eloisa James continues to build a world in which this wealthy Georgian era family steals my heart. I find that within all of James’ novels, there is a strong bond within friendships and family members that highlights the story without detracting from the main storyline. You find yourself so endeared to these casts of supporting characters, that you are on pins and needles waiting for the moment their story unfolds within the pages of their own book.
Born to Be Wilde is a gem of historical romance. Lushly descriptive you’ll be submersed into a world that rivals a Baz Luhrmann production. Ooooooooooo the settings and trousseau. Sigh. Divine. This is a beautiful love story that manages to be eloquent and steamy. Issues that are relevant today are tackled respectfully which adds layers of texture to this storyline.
