Eliza’s thoughts- Hilarious!
Loved the characters.
Disappointed
By Redddoggin
I love this author. I really do. That being said, this book was a huge disappointment. The story felt contrived and worse, quite predictable. I love the Low Country, which is why I read Frank’s books. They usually take me there in my mind as she weaves her story, making it seem like one of the main characters. This book, however, did nothing of the sort. I stuck with it till the end in hopes of finding some redeeming factor, but to no avail. My advice, skip this one for sure.
A little tedious
By Jobo238
Usually I enjoy Dorothea Benton's books, but this one was very wordy. It was a good idea to write each chapter from the point of view of each character, but it wound up that you were reading the same thing over & over. All the musings & thinking of the characters got tedious after awhile; you started to not care. The descriptions of the surroundings and food were too much, I found myself skipping paragraphs just to get through it. I usually enjoy stories like this, but I found this story...well, tedious.
Just okay

I usually like this author. I found this book to be boring and didn't really care for the characters. I only finished it because I spent good money on it. Skip it.

Very corny book. I was ready for it to end way before the ending. Not a big fan of this book.
Movie copy

There is a movie Same Time Next Year circa 1978 with Alan Alda & Ellen Burnstyn. Author and publisher should be ashamed for copying premise. Soon as I read few pages, I knew I had already seen the movie. Don't bother with the book.

Dorothea Benton Frank's best since "the Last Original Wife". Her characterizations are incredible and bring each and every character alive as someone we have all known. Her stories about relationships ring true and bold, and always make the reader dig deep into the story. This is a jewel. Don't mistake it for a quick summer read.

I wish I had read the reviews before buying this book!
Check the facts please

I really liked this book until 70 percent through. One of the characters gets hepatitis c and let's just say there was no fact checking going on. Then it just got sappy.
