  • More than high school history

The high school version is that this tiny band of men suffered this horrible winter but survived and went on to defeat the British at Yorktown. Mr Fleming tells a much more complicated story. There were people that would do anything to destroy this band of rebels who were destroying there comfortable life style. There were also those who saw the aims of the revolution differently than George Washington. Their ego was more important than the common good.

An excellent telling of an amazing time. I had a minor awareness of the political intrigue facing Washington during his time at Valley Forge. This well written book does a great job of illustrating just how close Washington's American opponents were to toppling him. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the American Revolution!
